Welcome
Hi! My name’s Nicki. This is my little corner of cyberspace, my proverbial sandbox. On this website, you will find a little bit of background information on me: my education, a few digital representations of my work, and contact information. I am a web designer by trade, but dabble in graphic design in my spare time.
From time to time I do freelance work, but am most open to commercial work and/or permanent employment opportunities. I have spent nearly 10 years programming software in the health care industry, but am comfortable in both developmental and artistic roles. About Me
I’m a thirty-something web developer living in Birmingham, Alabama with my husband, Jim, and his lovely daughter, Jessie. I love to play around with my blog (and this site in general, hehe). I also dabble in graphic design (when time allows).
I have lived in Alabama all of my life. I was raised just north of Birmingham in a small “country” community named Corner. I have a deep appreciation and love of nature. I also love sports — particularly college football. My favorite team is the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. I also love hockey, and am a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan. I love music, and love pretty much anything but country. (Ironic, no?) I’ve a deep love for the blues and have lately developed a taste for bluegrass.
Oh yeah … Have I mentioned that I’m recently married? For some reason I agreed to marry this very charming fellow — though I haven’t yet figured out why. We’ve been together over 5 years and both work in the IT industry … he’s a bigger geek than I am! 
I consider myself an avid gamer, but prefer FPSs and RPGs to MMORPGs. I am a former editor for Addons.Mozilla.Org, and spend a good deal of my time in the WordPress community. I am an active blogger for BYKYC, the Blogging Chicks Network, and several Blog Carnivals.
My interests are: meeting interesting people, blogging, cooking, dancing, singing, writing and composing, comic books, cartoons, reading (fantasy, horror and sci-fi are my faves!), watching movies (I love action and “B” movies), anything to do with animals, and anything to do with technology.
Charity / Volunteer Work
I am currently volunteering my services for Princess Girlz Ministries and Soldiers’ Angels. Past charitable and volunteer works have included A Million Thanks, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Big Brothers / Big Sisters and the United Way.
